Lei dos Gases Manipulativa

"Bond with James" conta em seu blog uma estratégia para ensinar leis dos gases usando palitos de picolé (gelado, sorvete no palito,...), que reproduzo aqui. No final, coloquei um link para um livro da ACS sobre ensino de química na educação especial.

Como podem ver pelas fotos, é bem fácil. Escreve, no palito, as iniciais para as 3 variáveis de estado na ordem mostrada na primeira foto.

Coloca o dedo sobre a variável que ficará constante numa transformação gasosa. Na segunda foto, o dedo está sobre T (variável temperatura). Mexe uma extremidade para cima (P, por exemplo) e a outra extremidade desce, procurando chamar a atenção para o fato de que numa transformação gasosa do tipo isotérmica, ao aumentar a pressão P, o volume V diminuirá.

Ao preparar a aula, recomendaria considerar o uso de um simulador como um dos propostos no Portal PhET:

"Bond with James" wrote about a nice instructional strategy for gas laws in his blog:

Setup:

On a Popsicle stick or sheet of paper (e.g. sentence strip), write and space out: P   T   V (as shown  below)

P = pressure,  T = temperature,  V = volume

How to  use:

• Hold the stick by the letter of the variable that is held constant.
• Then move the stick so that the variable you are changing goes up or down, the other variable will move as well to increase or decrease accordingly
• For example,  if the temperature is constant [hold by T]:
• If volume is decreasing [move the V side down], the pressure will rise [you will see that the P side is now up]

This is a great visual to assist all students, especially ELL and SPED students¹, in understanding the various gas laws – in addition to helping solve problems. I would suggest embedding this strategy with the Chemistry EOC reference chart (Texas teachers).
